The TVN24 camera accompanied the night patrols of the Military Police in Szprotawa and Żagań in connection with the flood situation. Senior Corporal Kamil Lamparski and Captain Daniel Zakrzewski told TVN24 journalist Filip Folczak that during night patrols from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day they guard houses from looters, and if necessary, they provide assistance to residents. – We are here for the people – emphasized Lamparski.
– In the entire flood-affected region, the number of gendarmes usually exceeds 300 at one time. In total, 500 people and 80 vehicles have been sent to the operations, but it is known that a shift system must be maintained, because it is not possible to send so many people to the field at the same time – emphasized Zakrzewski.

– They are located in places where specific threats may occur. This results from arrangements conducted together with the police. We support these activities and the presence of gendarmes is to have a preventive effect, deterring potential looters. At the same time, the gendarmes are visible to residents who have remained in their homes, so they have direct access to the services and are able to inform at any time if something bad is happening in the area of their residence – said the captain.

He pointed out that “for security reasons and due to the purposes of the presence of gendarmes guarding property against looting, it is impossible to say exactly where the gendarmes are located”. – It is public and widely known information that they are in specific locations and this is something that can be said. However, the places where they patrol in terms of protecting property remain secret, if such a word can be used, because it cannot favor potential looters so that they guard the gendarmes, and not the gendarmes guard them as part of these activities – added Zakrzewski.
