Two people were charged with endangering and causing bodily injury to an 18-year-old boy who lost both legs while working in a furniture factory near Kępno.
According to the press spokesman of the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrów Wielkopolska, Maciej Meler, the District Prosecutor's Office in Kępno is still continuing proceedings to assess the accidents that occurred at the furniture production plant in Jankowy in the Kępno district.
– So far, evidence has been collected that allowed two people to be charged with endangering danger and causing bodily injury to a citizen. Ukraine. The second accusation concerns the failure to notify the National Labor Inspectorate about the incident, Meler said.
The chipper cut off both of his legs
The accident occurred in January 2024. Emergency services were called to an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen who was caught in a machine used for chopping pieces of wood while working. The teenager was freed by firefighters and paramedics who arrived at the scene. His injuries were very serious. The chipper cut off both of his legs to knee height.
The police under the supervision of the prosecutor's office investigated the circumstances of the tragedy. The National Labor Inspectorate in Ostrów Wielkopolski was also notified about the matter.
This procedure – as prosecutor Meler said – included another one, also concerning the same plant. In March 2021, another employee was allegedly exposed to the risk of loss of health and life.
The suspects – depending on the charges – face up to five years in prison.
