There was a fatal accident in the High Tatras. The Polish tourist did not survive the fall from Poręna Grani, the Slovak Horska Zachranna Slużba (HZS) reported on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday evening.
A tourist from Poland fell from Poręna Grania to the bottom of a gully in the Staroleśna Valley. Her partner, who did not have climbing equipment, could not go down to check on her condition. Rescuers from the Polish Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service (GOPR) reported the accident to their Slovak colleagues.
Accident in the Slovak Tatra Mountains
A team of rescuers from the Horska Zachranna Service (HZS) from Stary Smokovec was sent to the area of the incident that took place on Wednesday evening. Rescuers reported that the woman did not survive the fall. They climbed to her partner, who was brought down using specialized equipment and then transported to Starý Smokovec. The body of the deceased was handed over to Slovak police officers.
