Andrzej Morozowski talked in “Tak jest” on TVN24 with his guests about the elections in the United States. Professor Roman Kuźniar, a political scientist, admitted that “it is absolutely impossible to say who has a greater chance of winning.” The elections from Pennsylvania were covered by reporter Katrzyna Kolenda-Zaleska.
On Tuesday at 11 p.m. on TVN24 i TVN24 GO the program starts “Decision time. America chooses”. All events will also be available on tvn24.pl.
Tuesday's edition of “Tak jest” on TVN24 was dominated by the topic of the ongoing elections in the United States. At the beginning of the program, the reporter of “Fakty” TVN, Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska, reported on how voting was going in Pennsylvania – a key state with 19 electoral votes up for grabs. – Pennsylvania is a swing state and in large cities people tend to vote for Democrats – she emphasized. She added that both in small towns and in the agricultural part, Republican candidates usually gain more support. – This is a huge state, 13 million people and it is basically divided in half – she pointed out.
Trump is building “confidence” by saying he feels like he's winning
Next o Donald Trump and his self-confidence regarding the election result, Professor Roman Kuźniar – political scientist and former advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland for international diplomacy – was asked. Kuźniar assessed that Trump was building “self-confidence”, saying that he felt he had won. Moreover, he may also try to encourage “voting for him” in regions that have not yet voted. Kuźniar also admitted that “it is absolutely impossible to say who has a greater chance of winning.” – Never before in history, as we know, has it ever been so fifty-fifty (as it is now – ed.). In all eight swing states, everything is within the limits of statistical error, an advantage of one side or the other – he described. The UW professor noted that he was convinced that this time Donald Trump would accept the election results.
“There was no hint of gender there”
The program noted that Kamala Harris she could become the first woman in history to hold the office President of the United States. Therefore, the question was asked whether the gender of the US president could influence his policy. Professor Kuźniar denied this, emphasizing that there were many “outstanding female politicians” in history. – Let me remind you of Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, and… Angela Merkel. The absolute greats of world politics. There was no hint of gender there, he said.
As he argued, he would expect “greater empathy” in internal matters, but, as he emphasized, it was not gender but rather origin that would be important here. – Greater empathy when it comes to the fate of excluded and less well-off people. These are the people who will unfortunately vote, most of them, as we know at the moment, for Trump because he presents himself as an anti-establishment politician – explained the political scientist.
