The 23-year-old got himself into trouble, literally. According to the police, he was speeding at 131 kilometers per hour in a built-up area. The meeting with the officers reduced his account balance by PLN 2,500 and increased his penalty points. He lost his driving license.
On a November night in Żabieniec, Piaseczno officers noticed a Fiat passenger car. “The driver was driving at a speed of 131 km/h, in a built-up area where the speed limit is 50 km/h” – describes the senior sergeant in the statement. Magdalena Gąsowska from the District Police Headquarters in Piaseczno.
The driver was stopped for a road check and fined PLN 2,500, and 15 points were added to his account. For violating road traffic regulations, the police detained the 23-year-old's driving license, which means that he will have to spend the next three months in the passenger seat.
Dangerous speed
The police emphasize that speed is one of the main causes of road accidents.
They remind us that the greater it is, the worse drivers' perception of the surroundings and the limited reception of information, the worse the vehicle's balance on road curves and the less tire grip, as well as the longer the braking distance. The energy is also greater in the event of a collision with another vehicle or a solid obstacle, and the consequences for the driver and passengers are more tragic.
They appeal for common sense and caution on the road and driving with imagination. “Let us remember that compliance with road rules increases our safety on the road,” they point out.
