Roads in most of Poland will be slippery at night and in the morning. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued warnings about freezing precipitation that may cause black ice. In some parts of the country, IMWM also warns against dense fog.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings.
IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation
Warnings against freezing precipitation apply to the following voivodeships:
- Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipoutside the poviats: Elbląg, ElblągBraniewo, Lidzbark, Bartoszycki;
- Podlasie;
- Masovian Voivodeship;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipoutside the following counties: Świecie, Tuchola, Sępolno, Nakło;
- Łódź;
- Greater Polandexcept for northern and western counties;
- Lower Silesia;
- Opole province;
- Silesian;
- Lesser Polandoutside the Tatra County;
- Świętokrzyskie;
- Podkarpackie;
- Lublin Province.
Locally, light freezing rain or drizzle is forecast, which may cause black ice. The warnings will be valid from 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
IMWM warnings – dense fog
IMWM it also warns against fog. The lowest level warnings apply in the voivodeship Pomeranianin the following counties: Bytów, Kartuzy, Kościerzyna, Chojnice, Człuchów.
Visibility may be below 200 meters in places. The warnings will expire at 9 on Wednesday.
What are IMWM first degree warnings?
Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation.
