Firefighters carried out operations for almost five hours in the hospital in Puszczykowo near Poznań (Greater Poland Voivodeship). The services received the report on Wednesday before 18. – We received a report from the emergency notification center about the smell of sulfur in the operating theater – said Martin Halasz, duty officer of the Greater Poland fire brigade.
Where does the smell of sulfur come from?
On Thursday morning, Halasz reported what firefighters found. – Ultimately, it turned out that one of the pipes in the ventilation system had burned. The smell of burning and even sulfur, which alarmed the hospital staff, was caused by the burning of the wire – said the spokesman of the Greater Poland fire brigade.
Therefore, once a fire was ruled out, the rooms were simply ventilated. A total of 20 people were evacuated during the operation. 13 fire brigades took part in the activities, including a specialist chemical group.
