The American daily reported, citing Iranian sources, that Musk's meeting with Ambassador Amir Saeid Irabani lasted over an hour and took place in a secret place.

Asked whether Musk met with Iranian officials, Steven Chung, Trump's communications director, said he “does not comment on reports of private meetings that may or may not have occurred.” Elon Musk also did not respond to the NYT's request for comment.
The newspaper said the early face-to-face meeting between a senior Iranian official and Musk raises the possibility of a change in tone in relations between Tehran and Washington under Trump, despite previous tensions between the president-elect and Iran. “NYT” emphasized, citing sources, that it was Musk who asked for the meeting and the ambassador chose the place.
