On Thursday, Łukasz Ż., suspected of causing a fatal accident on Trasa Łazienkowska, returned to Poland and was arrested. On Friday, after 12 p.m., he was brought to the Warsaw-Śródmieście District Prosecutor's Office, where he will be interrogated and charged.
As TVN24 reporter Bartłomiej Ślak found out, Łukasz Ż's participation in the interrogation. announced as many as eight lawyers, including those of the suspect's friends.
Łukasz Ż. returned to Poland based on the consent of a German court under the EAW procedure. He is suspected of causing a fatal accident on Trasa Łazienkowska in September this year. The Volkswagen, which, according to investigators, was driven by Łukasz Ż., ran into the rear of the Ford, which then hit the energy-absorbing barriers. A family of four was traveling in the Ford. A 37-year-old man died in the collision, his 37-year-old wife and children aged four and eight were taken to hospital. A passenger in the Volkswagen was also injured.
The man spent the first night after returning to Poland in a detention cell in Białołęka.
The prosecutor's office will be charged with, among others, causing a fatal accident and escaping, as well as driving a car despite a court ban.
He was punished many times
Łukasz Ż. He was punished many times: for driving under the influence of alcohol, for driving without a license, for fraud and drug possession. The courts banned him from driving five times. Most often he was sentenced to community service. Once he was imprisoned for breaking a court ban and served 11 months.
The last sentence for Łukasz Ż., also regarding breaking the ban, was passed less than two months before the accident in the District Court for Warsaw Praga-Północ. The court then ruled that the man must return to prison – for a year and a half. However, the decision did not have time to become final.
Several people were detained
The suspect's colleagues were also detained in connection with the accident: Mikołaj N., Damian J. and Maciej O. – Being witnesses of an accident in land traffic, they did not provide help to the injured in the accident and, moreover, obstructed the proceedings, helping Łukasz Ż to avoid criminal liability. – the perpetrators of the accident – by initiating his escape and helping him – explained Piotr Skiba, press spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
The next people arrested in this case were Kacper K., who had a Volkswagen, and Aleksander G., in whose apartment the suspect stayed after the accident. Everyone has already heard the charges.
