“Letters to M. Farewells and Returns”, the sixth installment of the cult series, will most likely reach another viewing record on Monday. According to estimates, the picture will be seen by over a million viewers. – We are grateful, we don't believe it – said actor Tomasz Karolak on TVN24.
The actor commented, among other things, on the fact that his film had a better opening weekend than the second part of “Dune”. He emphasized that he is a big fan of the series with Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet. – I really liked this movie, both parts. However, it seems to me that the driving force of “Letters to M.” there are women. I've read some sociological research that says that women are the driving force of culture. I take it to heart, because women take men and say “let's go to see 'Letters to M.'”, but women also take men to the theater, for example – said the actor.
When asked about the reaction of his relatives to the film, Karolak joked that according to his daughter, “there was no colostrum.” – I have made it a family tradition that the two of us always go to “Letters” – he revealed.
“We show that we can reconcile”
– The movie is so cuddly. Maybe nowadays, in our geographical situation, where the car does not recognize that it is daytime in the morning, but is still in night mode, it can be some reassurance for us – said the actor, adding that he “hopes there will be two million viewers , two and a half, maybe even three.
According to him, the strength of the film is its theme of forgiveness. – We have not been able to reconcile for hundreds of years. If you know history, you know that the division of Poland has always existed and, as some say, it is and will be. So the dream of reconciliation in peaceful conditions is such a longing, and in this film we show that we can reconcile at this Christmas Eve table. The question, of course, is for how long, Karolak said.
A cinematic hit
The latest film in the beloved series had a better opening weekend with 492,000 viewers than this year's hits – “Dune: Part Two” or “Barbie”. “Letters to M. Farewells and Returns” also outperformed the previous installment of the film series – “Letters to M. 5” from 2022. Data after the weekend and holiday Monday show that the new “Letters to M.” A total of over 620,000 viewers attended.
The film's premiere took place in early November in Warsaw. The film was distributed in almost 400 cinemas and can be seen in over 260 towns. The comedy receives positive reviews from both critics and viewers. The action, as in previous films, takes place on Christmas Eve. We meet well-known characters again. Mel (Tomasz Karolak) has become more serious and runs his own business, Karina (Agnieszka Dygant) and Szczepan (Piotr Adamczyk) hope for a peaceful Christmas, Wojciech (Wojciech Malajkat) returns from his trips abroad, and Mikołaj (Maciej Stuhr) also appears – in an unusual role ).

The producer of “Letters to M. Farewells and Returns” is TVN Warner Bros. Discovery. The film was directed by Łukasz Jaworski. Marcin Baczyński and Mariusz Kuczewski are responsible for the script. As the second screenwriter said on tvn24.pl, although each subsequent film in the series is a completely new story, viewers find already known elements in them. The permanent frame of the film is Christmas Eve. – On the one hand, this makes work easier, but it is also a certain limitation. During this one day, our hero must undergo a very credible transformation. And we must feel that this is another change for the better – said Kuczewski, who co-wrote the script of “Letters to M” for the fifth time.
