“The air escaped from the bubble.” So many candidates for one position in the IT industry

Most applications for 1st place job offer received by IT companies in 2024. On average, 91 candidates apply for one position. “Organizations from the IT industry receive more applications than other industries. This may be due to two things: in recent years, the number of offers on the market has decreased significantly (…), and the number of offers addressed to IT specialists still remains at a relatively low level, which explains the large number of candidates for these positions” – I'm writing Weronika Szatan, recruiter from Recruitment Dev.

The report gives an example Cracowwhere the number of IT graduates increased by 73%. in the space of just four years. “Additionally, many people decide to look for a job in IT without having formal education,” we read further. Weronika Szatan predicts that “the air that escaped from the so-called IT bubble may not return.” Finding a job in this industry will be simply difficult.

Work in IT companies is concentrated around the largest Polish cities. As much as 75-82 percent offers from this industry came from Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław and Rzeszów. The leader is, of course, the capital, where as many as 42 percent came from. all job offers. Interestingly, IT companies were most often looking for the so-called seniors. There are many candidates, and some reject offers. “Times on the labor market are uncertain”

Apart from IT companies, the most candidates for one position were in IT recruitment agencies (52 candidates for one position, recruitment agencies not from the IT industry (45 candidates) and Software House (44 candidates). In other industries, there were 66 candidates for one position.

Interestingly, the report noted that despite the large number of candidates for one position, many of them ultimately rejected the job offer. From January to October 2024, 13,585 candidates received an offer from a potential employer via Traffit. 63.4 percent of them accepted the offer, while 36.6 percent it was not accepted.

The main reasons were: complete resignation from the process (without giving an exact reason) – 36 percent, acceptance of another offer – 22 percent, lack of contact – 14 percent. and financially unattractive offers – 6 percent. – Times on the labor market are now uncertain, so candidates are looking for a quick sense of security and are willing to cooperate with those who will provide it to them in the form of a job first – notes Anika Osmólska, Head of People and Culture at Traffit.
