“We have a day of dynamic weather ahead of us, today we are warning about strong winds in a large area of the country, about heavy rainfall (Kłodzko County), and until 9:00 there are still warnings about icing in the south-east of the country,” said the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management November 19 on Facebook. Experts issued as many as three weather-related alerts.
Two serious warnings for the Kłodzko district. Watch out for rain and rising water levels
The area of the Kłodzko district affected by the September flood was included in the area covered by two Institute alerts – meteorological and hydrological. “From 10:00, warnings against heavy rainfall in the Kłodzko district will come into force. […] A warning about sudden increases in water levels was also issued for Nysa Kłodzka and Ścinawka (and Klikawa, Żydawka, Czermnica and Orlica – ed.) (Lower Silesian Voivodeship),” the IMWM reported. Predicted rainfall will range from 35 mm to 45 mm.
In other areas of Poland, “predicted rainfall totals range from 10 mm in the west, 15 mm in the north and north-west, to 25 mm in the south-west. Over the rest of the country, below 10 mm. In the south-east, no rainfall in places.”
Alerts also against strong winds. IMWM covered most of the country
“From 10:00 a.m., meteorological warnings against strong winds in the south of the country will come into force; in the afternoon and evening, the warnings will cover most of the country,” the meteorologists further emphasized. The forecast refers to strong winds with an average speed of up to 40 km/h and gusts of up to 85 km/h.
“Objects knocked over and carried by the wind may pose a threat to people staying in open spaces. Due to difficult conditions on communication routes (especially in the north of the country), you should be especially careful when moving and remember the basic safety rules. It is recommended to follow the announcements weather forecasts and checking current meteorological warnings,” added the IMWM press release.
