Weather conditions on Saturday in the north of the country will be particularly difficult. There are warnings from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management against heavy snowfall and strong winds.
Sea effect
As the forecaster explains, “stormswhich currently occur in the region of Western Pomerania, are related to the influence of the Baltic Sea, i.e. the so-called sea effect (also found in the literature as the lake effect).
– It consists in the fact that a warmer, large body of water in contact with the inflow of a colder and unstable air mass and high flow dynamics causes the formation of uplifted cumulonimbus clouds and even storms with intense snowfall, sleet or snowfall – he describes.
