Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest, the office of the Israeli head of government announced on Saturday. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu this week.
Orban on Friday condemned the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Fr issuing an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. He also announced that he would be invited to Budapest and guaranteed his immunity. Orban accused the ICC of “interfering in the ongoing conflict (Israel and Palestinian Hamas – ed.) for political purposes.” He also announced that the decision to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip violates international law and exacerbates tensions in the Middle East. Orban called the arrest order “outrageously impudent” and “cynical.”
The ICC issued an arrest warrant for the Prime Minister of Israel
The ICC, based in The Hague, on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and his former defense minister, Joav Galant. They are accused of crimes against humanity committed in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip that has been going on for over a year. The judges believe that there are grounds to conclude that Israeli politicians used “hunger as a method of waging war.” This is about limiting the supply of humanitarian aid and deliberately attacking civilians.
According to Palestinian sources, the death toll from the campaign Israel in the Gaza Strip it has already exceeded 44,000. According to local authorities, more than half of those killed were women and children. Israel firmly denies these allegations.
