On Sunday, a civic meeting with the president of PiS will be held at Hala Sokół in Krakow Jarosław Kaczyńskiduring which the decision regarding the party's support for a non-partisan presidential candidate will be announced. According to unofficial information, the candidate would be the boss Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki.

– Each party has the right to choose its candidate whom it considers to be the best – said Andrzej Dera from the president's office. He stressed that “the presidential elections are not taking place in abstract categories, that we are talking about some ideas, but these are personal choices.”

– I know the president of the Institute of National Remembrance and I can say that he has great personality traits that predispose him to run for president. He will definitely be a good president, he said. He recalled that “10 years ago, in the same way, Law and Justice elected Andrzej Duda, who won with confidence over a certain one, the president who was in power at the time, and who was said to have no right to lose.”

– This is a marathon that is just starting and you need to have the qualities to win this marathon. And in my opinion, Karol Nawrocki has such features. He will have the support of the entire patriotic community. In my opinion, he has a great chance of winning, said Dera.

Anna Zalewska from PiS appealed to postpone the discussion until 4 p.m., when the PiS candidate will be announced. – First of all, we will be together – she emphasized. – Certainly, what citizens need at the moment is to prevent the closure of the agreement he talked about Grzegorz Schetyna – she said.

When asked why after eight years in power Law and Justice decides to nominate a non-party candidate and not one of the party activists, Zaleska replied: – Analyzes were presented and made as to who would be the best candidate. The top candidate will be shown at 4 p.m.

– We will definitely present a candidate with whom we will work until the end. It is absolutely important that he wins the presidential election, said the MEP.

– No matter what they are today pollswe are deeply convinced that in the second round it will be very close to a draw – says the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk. – It will be 50/50. It will be a very difficult election, where every vote will decide. Full mobilization will be needed here, he added.

Replying to Zalewska, he said: – When it comes to closure, first of all I would like to lock up the PiS thieves. And thieves in general who have been stealing for the last eight years. This is the main task, also from the point of view of this campaign.

Referring to the PiS candidates, he said that “it may be that too many of these candidates, these frontmen, may face prosecutorial charges and we need to look so far from the previous PiS government that, God forbid, no one will show up there.” “. – It looks a bit like you are really ashamed of your politics – he said.

He repeated that these would be very difficult choices. – Regardless of whether it is Nawrocki, Błaszczak or anyone else, it will be 50/50 and every vote will matter – he argued.

In the opinion of Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus from the Left, “everything is possible” in these presidential elections. – Everything can be turned upside down by some event that will change the entire political situation. (…) Many things can happen inside the country and can happen outside the country. These are all determinants that may cause this result to be surprising for us in six months, she said.

According to her, “the fact that Jarosław Kaczyński is casting for a candidate, immediately assuming that he will be handsome and young, shows that Kaczyński is completely unserious about these presidential elections.” – Law and Justice has shown its defeat. For eight years, it had a lot of ministers, a lot of candidates, a lot of people willing to run, said the Left MEP.

She expressed surprise that Beata Szydło was excluded from the candidate selection. – I think that she from the Law and Justice party would be the most credible person who could fight against our side – she said.

– In politics, absolutely anything is possible. And perhaps there will be another dark horse in these races, she added.

– We have talked a lot about why the candidate of Law and Justice is currently someone we don't really know about, apart from the fact that he is the head of the Institute of National Remembrance, nothing. I think that the most important PiS politicians who should be candidates have already had charges brought to the prosecutor's office. Applications to the prosecutor's office are submitted to Mr. Morawiecki and Mr. Sasin, so these people are automatically disqualified – said Agnieszka Kłopotek from PSL.

In her opinion, whether there will be a large turnout in the presidential elections “will primarily depend on whether young people and women turn out.” – Just like it was during the elections in October. This is very important. For them to take part in these elections, we have to give them something of our promises. We need to put civil partnerships and health insurance premiums on the table, for example. These are all the most important things that concern Poles and Poles at the moment – she argued.

– From our perspective, the system has been closed for 20 years. Whether it will be Karol Trzaskowski or Rafał Nawrocki does not matter at this point – said Stanisław Tyszka from Konfederacja ironically.

As he added, it does not matter because “Poles are taxed more and more, they pay the highest electricity prices in Europe due to climate madness, they finance parties that take ownership of subsequent institutions – state-owned companies, they finance 800 plus for Ukrainians, although they do not want to.” .

– If Poles want change, and I think Poles are ripe for change, they should not vote for either the PiS or PO candidate – said the Confederation MP.

According to him, “the problems PiS has after eight years in power with electing anyone proves that Jarosław Kaczyński primarily wants to defend the party and does not think about what would be good for Poland.”
