Georgia. The crowds are protesting again. Police in Tbilisi used water cannons

Tens of thousands of people are protesting in Tbilisi against the Georgian government. According to eyewitnesses – quoted by Echo Kawkaza (a branch of Radio Swoboda) – There are more demonstrators than on Thursday.

The police have started using water cannons against the gathered people, and forces are also on standby near the city center special and specialized equipment for suppressing demonstrations.

According to the Kremlin's Ria Novosti agency, protesters they were supposed to throw stones, bottles and firecrackers towards the officers. Security forces used water cannons and tear gas against them. Some people were supposed to be injured.

In turn, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that “demonstrators in Tbilisi violated the law, destroying infrastructure, including the gates of the parliament.”

On the night from Thursday to Friday, around 2, officers began to pacify the protestusing, among others, water cannons and tear gas.

According to official data 43 people were detainedand several dozen demonstration participants were injured, including approx 20 journalists – reported the NewsGeorgia portal.

Demonstrations are also ongoing in other Georgian cities, including Batumi and Kutaisi.

After the Prime Minister Georgia Irakli Kobachidze reported that until 2028, the country suspends talks with European Union about membership in this organization, there was an uproar on the city streets again.

Supporters of the pro-Western course do not agree with the decision of the head of government, including: President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.

Thursday's protests against the prime minister's move were not peaceful. Georgian media reported that in Tbilisi, the capital of the country, The uniformed officers used pepper spray against the gathered people and also threw smoke grenades at them. Many protest participants who were sprayed by water cannons complained of burns to their faces and bodies.
