Police officers from Gostyń detained a 38-year-old man who is suspected of a series of shopliftings throughout the country. The man was detained together with his 17-year-old son. The value of the stolen items was estimated at almost PLN 43,000. They both heard prosecutor's charges.
Gostyń police officers were notified about a series of thefts in three stores of the same chain in October this year. Stolen, among others: sweets, coffee and baby formula. The officers determined that the suspect in this case was a 38-year-old citizen Moldova. At the end of November this year, a man was detained in a store parking lot in Krobia. His 17-year-old son was waiting for him nearby.
“In the trunk of their vehicle, the officers found building blocks and sweets that had been stolen from a store in Kroba. The men chose a store from the same chain as before,” we read in the release.
Both were arrested and taken to police custody.
He stole all over the country
The officers found that the 38-year-old had robbed 61 stores of the same chain throughout the country, taking mainly food items. Total losses were estimated at approximately PLN 43,000.
The 38-year-old was charged with four counts of theft and was temporarily arrested for three months by the court. The 17-year-old will be responsible for the last theft in Krobia.
Both men face up to five years in prison.
