– The American GFS weather model shows a “tongue of cold” that may flow into Poland on December 20, i.e. just before Christmas. This means that we may experience both a drop in temperature and snowfall, said tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek.

Will Christmas be white?
As forecaster tvnmeteo.pl reported, model calculations show that the wide and blurred wedge of heat that is to appear over Western Europe may come to Poland just in time for Christmas.
– These calculations allow us to maintain the probability of a “white Christmas” at 10 percent. But it should be remembered that the forecasted heat wedges and cold bays may be slightly postponed, which means that the cold may last until Christmas Eve, and a thaw will occur on Christmas Day – added Arleta Unton-Pyziołek.
The forecast of the temperature deviation of the GFS model shows that December 20 may be very cold because the deviation values are negative. In this case, the air temperature will remain below 0 degrees Celsius during the day, and only in Pomerania it may be warmer.

The experimental model of the European ECMWF, based on artificial intelligence calculations, is completely different. He forecasts a strong western circulation, a stream of warm and mild Atlantic air, in which the temperature before Christmas, around December 19, may soar above long-term norms.
