On Friday, the weather in some regions of Poland will be dynamic. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued warnings about strong winds and heavy snowfall. Freezing precipitation and icing will also pose a threat.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall
Yellow alerts are in force in the voivodeship Lower Silesiain the following counties: Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych, Karkonosze, Kamienna Góra, Jelenia Góra, Lwówek.
Snowfall is forecast there, causing an increase in snow cover in areas above 800 meters above sea level by 10 centimeters. The warnings will be valid on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
IMWM warnings – strong wind
First degree warnings against strong winds have been issued for the following voivodeships:
- Pomeranianin the following counties: Puck, Sopot, Gdynia (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.);
- Podkarpackiein the following counties: Bieszczady, Sanok, Krosno, Krosno, Lesko and Jasło (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.);
- Lesser Polandin the following poviats: Gorlice, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Sącz (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Oświęcim, Wadowice and Sucha (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.);
- Silesianin the following counties: Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielsko, Bielsko-Biała (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.);
- Opole provincein the following poviats: GÅ‚ubczyce, Prudnik, Nysa (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.);
- Lower Silesiain the following counties: Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych, Karkonosze, Kamienna Góra, Jelenia Góra, Lwówek, Zgorzelec and Lubań (where warnings will be in force on Friday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Strong winds with an average speed of up to 35 km/h and gusts of up to 80 km/h are forecast there, from the south, south-east and west.
IMWM warnings – icing
Black ice alerts are in force in the voivodeship Podkarpackie.
It is forecast that wet road surfaces and sidewalks will freeze locally after rain, drizzle or sleet, causing them to become icy. The minimum temperature will be around -1 degrees C, and the minimum temperature at the ground will be around -3 degrees C. Alarms will be in force until 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

The lowest level warnings apply in the following voivodeships:
- Opole provincein the following counties: GÅ‚ubczyce, Prudnik, Nysa;
- Lower Silesiain the following counties: Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych, Karkonosze, Kamienna Góra, Jelenia Góra, Lwówek, Zgorzelec and Lubań.
Locally light freezing rain or drizzle causing black ice is forecast there. The alarms will remain in force until 2 p.m. on Friday.
