Warsaw, Last Generation. The city hall will not terminate the activists' contract

Many non-governmental organizations with very different ideological tones rent spaces from us. This is completely natural – said the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, when asked whether the city would terminate the lease of the premises to the Last Generation. Activists rent 160 square meters on Krucza Street.

He also assessed the activists' protests. – It is completely one thing to make society aware of the changes taking place in the climate, and it is quite another thing to conduct this type of action, which is not only counterproductive, but also illegal – said Trzaskowski.

The Last Generation climate activists blocking the main arteries of Warsaw are associated with the Climate Activism Foundation, which rents premises in the center of the capital on preferential terms.

In response to an interpellation from one of the councilors, the town hall said that the foundation was renting a premises on Krucza Street with an area of ​​almost 160 square meters, paying PLN 16.50 per square meter, or PLN 2,640 per month.

Blockades of Warsaw roads

Climate activists from the Last Generation organization are blocking Wisłostrada, as well as other arteries of the capital. Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Monday on the X websitethat “blocking roads, regardless of political intentions, poses a threat to the state and all road users.” He said that he called “today the relevant services to react decisively and counteract such actions.”

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak, referring to the blockades, emphasized that the police will firmly fight “this type of pathology.” – No goal justifies such action and behavior – he added.

What does it look like in practice? During each blockade, police officers intervene on site. Activists are checked by officers, and the court decides on their punishment.

Last Generation activists are also responsible for, among others: for pouring paint over the Warsaw Mermaid monument and for delaying the start of the first race of the season in Służewiec. Activists also stormed the philharmonic stage during the concert.
