Presidential elections 2025. Rafał Trzaskowski: Karol Nawrocki is campaigning on the tragedy

After Saturday's convention in Gliwice, at which Rafał Trzaskowski was officially announced as the KO candidate in next year's presidential elections, on Sunday the politician was still in Silesia – in the village of Żernica in the Gliwice poviat.

At the briefing, he appeared in front of a banner hanging on a fence: “Rafał Trzaskowski 2025. All Poland forward!”. He was asked by journalists about the actions of his competitors in the presidential race, including: about Karol Nawrocki's weekend activity, which, in the light of cameras in Lądek-Zdrój, among others he carried bags. On Sunday morning, the president of the Institute of National Remembrance was already in Lublin, where he was running.

– It's great that he's running. I also run, but without cameras, it probably makes more sense, said Trzaskowski. He added that he was not doing a “show”.

– It is incredible that Mr. Nawrocki decided to campaign in areas that experienced the flood. We just helped, I personally helped, thanks to all the people from Warsaw, and I didn't make a big deal out of it. Because this is what we should do, and not to campaign on the flood victims, on the tragedy, we should campaign only for applause – he said, referring to the PiS candidate's activity in Lower Silesia.

When asked about the banner against which he appeared, the mayor of Warsaw explained that the poster was financed by the Civic Platform.

– I am the deputy chairman of PO, so there is nothing strange about it. As a party, we are still active, and now we will be preparing a program, he said. He assured that when the campaign officially begins after January 8 and his election committee is established, all activities will be financed from the election committee's money.

– We are extremely transparent on this matter. Not like PiS, which secretly printed its posters in strange places, in garages. (…) We act exactly as we should, in accordance with the recommendations of the National Electoral Commission. And at the moment we are simply preparing the program through conversations with Poles, he said.

The topic of these talks, as he said in Gliwice, are three areas: economy, security and equality.

Next week, Trzaskowski is to be in Podkarpacie, and then he will return to Silesia. – We all feel that Silesia and the entire Silesian Voivodeship are very important – emphasized the KO candidate.
