Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on social media on Sunday that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers and 370,000 have been injured.

– Our people defend their homes with their lives, and every life of our soldiers and civilians is valuable to us. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers who died on the battlefield. We have 370,000 cases of helping the wounded and it must be taken into account that in our army about 50 percent of the wounded return to service, and all wounds, including light and repeated ones, are registered, the president noted.

The key difference

According to Zelensky, one of the key differences between the Russian army and the Ukrainian Defense Forces is the level of development of battlefield medicine, which is much higher in the Ukrainian army. – We in Ukraine are grateful to everyone who helps develop medicine in our army, saves our wounded and ensures rehabilitation – he noted.

He said that since September, Russia has been losing men in the war by as much as six to one. – In this way, they want to grab more land before the global pressure on them becomes unbearable. (…) Updated data on Russian losses exceed 750,000 of their citizens. This includes 198,000 Russians killed and over 550,000 wounded, he said.

– We do not forget about our compatriots in Russian captivity – thousands of people, military and civilian, some of whom have been detained since 2014, when the occupation began. Since February 24, 2022, we have already managed to free 3,935 of our people from Russia: 3,767 soldiers and 168 civilians. We have to return everyone, and it's still a lot of work, Zelensky emphasized.

The president also recalled the children deported by Russia from Ukraine. – The Russians themselves say that there are hundreds of thousands of such stolen children, and Russia scatters them throughout its territory. Having them come back is the hardest thing. At least several million people remain in the occupied territory of Ukraine, he said.

– We need a just and strong peace that the Russians will not destroy in a few years, as they have already done. This is clear not only for our country and region. We see Russia now trying to conquer Georgia after several wars with the country. Russia still does not give up on Moldova. The Russians are now fleeing Syria, but that doesn't mean they won't try to spread death there again. Russian troops are present even in Africa and their goal is destabilization, Zelensky wrote.

Putin “sick about war”

In his opinion, Putin “is sick about war.” – It can only be stopped by force, by the power of world leaders who can become leaders of peace. We count on America and the entire world to stop Putin. The only thing he is afraid of is America and the unity of the world, he emphasized.

– With all our partners, we are talking about peace through strength – real peace and the steps and guarantees that the people and the state attacked by Russia need – concluded President Zelensky.
