The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against black ice and ice on roads in southern Poland. It may be slippery in several voivodeships. Warnings have been issued for coastal counties due to expected strong winds.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale. There is also a threat forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
IMWM warnings – icing
First degree warnings against icing apply in the following voivodeships:
- Opole provincein Prudnik and Nysa counties;
- Lower Silesiain the counties of: Kłodzko, Ząbkowice, Dzierżoniów, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych, Kamienna Góra, Karkonosze, Jelenia Góra, Złotoryja, Lwówek, Lubań.
In some places, wet road surfaces and sidewalks are expected to freeze after sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy. The minimum temperature will be from -2 to 0 degrees Celsius, and at the ground it will drop to about -3 degrees C. Alarms will be valid until 9 a.m. on Monday.
IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation
First degree warnings due to freezing precipitation apply to the following voivodeships:
- Silesian;
- Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Proszowice, Bochnia, Brzeg, Tarnów, Tarnów, Dąbrowa, Gorlice.
Light freezing rain or drizzle is forecast in places, causing black ice. The warnings will expire at 7 on Monday.
IMWM warnings – strong wind
IMWM also warns against strong winds. The lowest level alerts were issued for the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipfor the following counties: Świnoujście, Kamieński, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Białogard, Koszalin, Koszalin, Sławno;
- Pomeranianfor the following counties: Słupsk, Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo, Puck.
It will blow at an average speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 75 km/h, from the north-east.
The warnings will be valid from: 4-22 on Monday.
