RuPaul revealed the truth about Madonna. He had to swallow a bitter pill

Madonna was mentioned in RuPaul's autobiography. “I first heard about Madonna when she was still a cloakroom attendant at Danceteria, but in the 1980s she was already a star,” the artist emphasized. In 1984, together with friend RuPaul was a volunteer at the New Music Seminar review. She just gave one of the lectures at the event Madonna. “She talked about how difficult it was for her to break out. It took a long time before she finally managed to sign a contract, but she mentioned that she never gave up,” we read. The celebrity listened with bated breath to the singer's new hits. Later he saw the star disappear into the crowd on the street. After some time, he looked into the break room at the Pyramid – that's where RuPaul danced every day. Then he saw the singer. This meeting was not pleasant.

She looked at me with an expression I will never forget – contempt and cold fury at the fact that I had the audacity to even enter the same room as her.

– said the artist. “Naturally, it was the room where we were supposed to spend our breaks, and I happened to be on my break, so it wasn't that I had done anything wrong, but the look in her eyes said, 'What are you even doing here? Why are you here?' How dare you take away my oxygen? At all she didn't try to hide her disgust. On the contrary – she wanted it to be visible,” we read. “I felt intuitively that she estimated my value and decided that I had nothing to offer her. (…) She considered me a castrato, so I was worthless to her. Others did the same, but not as ostentatiously,” RuPaul described.

RuPaul on difficult moments. We can read about it in his biography

In his autobiography, RuPaul wrote about his problems. “From an early age I was called a c**t, but I never dwelled on it,” we read in the book. “All they cared about was that I had the courage to break the mold, and that's why they ostracized me,” he emphasized.

When he was accepted into the group of artistic freaks in Atlanta, he felt safe – it also resulted from the fact that he finally felt understood and became part of the community. “I started dancing at the Pyramid. I was making about 50 bucks a night there, which went towards cigarettes, food, or other needs. I saw that I was getting more out of it than other dancers. I was able to attract customers' attention. (…) With favorable winds, I was earning up to 120 bucks in tips alone just because I interacted with the audience, was able to make eye contact and cared about the audience, and yet the set kids from that environment often despised me,” we read in “The House of Hidden Meanings”.
