PSL decided to support Szymon Hołownia's candidacy in the presidential elections

On Saturday, the General Council met in Paprotnia (Sochaczewski County, Masovian Voivodeship). PSLwhich decided to support the candidacy of the Speaker of the Sejm, the leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia in the presidential elections. Leader of the People's Party Władysław Kosiniak-Kamyszdeputy prime minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense, said at the beginning of the meeting that the unification of PSL and Poland 2050 had a positive effect. – Without it, we would not have won the elections and this is extremely important. Then we agreed on a certain electoral scenario: we would start with the parliamentary elections and the final would be the presidential elections, he added.

– And it is very important that we are able to behave fairly and that we are able to unite – emphasized the head of the PSL.

Later, before the People's Party made a decision, Szymon Hołownia spoke.

– Today I come to ask you to support, you as the community of the Polish People's Party, you as its highest authority sitting here before me, my vision of the presidency, my candidacy. This is very important to me because none of the things that I believed in so deeply when creating this movement that I started right after the 2020 election campaign, nothing has changed in this motivation and nothing has changed in this diagnosis – he said .

He added that he still believes that “salvation for Poland today lies in this diversity.” – In order for it to become multi-center, and not just be a constant arena of war between two political camps taking a large part of Poland hostage – he added.

– Today, as Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said, are we participating in a coalition with one of the two great polarizing forces? Yes. Why? Because it is good for Poland. Because the government of the coalition on October 15 will be good for Poland, not for one, but for two terms. This will be a government that is good for Poland, continued the Speaker of the Sejm.

– But the president must be someone who will be able to unite the nation around great challenges and at the same time be a challenge to the government, not to throw obstacles in its way, veto everything or sign everything, but to be a challenge to the government, showing it what people expect today. Help the government to see a perspective that it can see much easier, much better from its workplace – Hołownia continued.
