The Prime Minister spoke about butter prices: On Tuesday, December 17, RARS announced tender for the sale of frozen butter. With this action, the government wants to ensure that the prices of this product will stop increasing. – This is a one-off incidental intervention, win-win (to the benefit of both parties – ed.). The government's Strategic Reserves Agency will not lose on this, because butter is very expensive […] We really wanted such an intervention not allow speculators to play with the price of butter just before Christmas – he explained during a press conference on Wednesday Donald Tusk.
Will prices actually fall? – Nobody will not give a guaranteethat butter prices will drop significantly, although this is quite a massive intervention. We reasonably hope and reasonably expect that this will make it more difficult for potential speculators and Butter shouldn't be more expensive before Christmas. We want to protect in this way, with the tools we have at our disposal all Polish families – the head of government further emphasized.
This is how much butter will be on sale: The intervention announced by RARS concerns a tender for frozen butter in blocks of 25 kg. – it's actually going to be for sale approx. 1,000 tons of product. The minimum price per kilogram excluding VAT is to reach PLN 28.38, and the butter sold will come from three dairies: Mlekovita, Lacpol and Polmlek. The opening of offers related to the tender is scheduled for Thursday, December 19.
