Krzysztof Gawkowski, deputy prime minister and minister of digitization from the Left, admitted in Wednesday's edition of “Fakty po Faktach” that a decision will be made on Thursday regarding the future of the Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek in the government.

Krzysztof Gawkowski asked whether the minister Dariusz Wieczorek should remain in the government, he replied: – If there was no case, there would be no request for explanations (…), there would be no conversation between the Prime Minister Donald Tusk with Mr. Marshal Czarzasty (…). Therefore, we will have a decision on this matter tomorrow – replied the Deputy Prime Minister.

Wirtualna Polska published an article about the minister, in which it was reported that “the head of the trade union at the University of Szczecin, Gabriela Fostiak, informed Dariusz Wieczorek about the irregularities that, in her opinion, are taking place at the university.”

The woman allegedly asked the minister to remain anonymous. The minister was to personally deliver her letters to the rector, who was to inform the minister that he was considering “taking legal action” against the head of the union. Earlier, the minister's wife became a director at the same university. Before her employment in this position, the regulations at the university were changed.

Gawkowski on the threat of influencing elections in Poland

The Deputy Prime Minister was asked whether he had any knowledge or signals from the services that someone from outside wanted to influence the results of the elections in Poland.

– I have such knowledge – Gawkowski replied. However, he added that he could not say anything more “because it would be revealing a state secret.”

Gawkowski on the package of laws on migration: there was no unanimity

Council of Ministers today adopted a package of laws on migration policy. The changes include, among others: modifications to the right to apply for asylum. As the deputy prime minister said, there was “no unanimity” in the government. The bills still need to be voted on in parliament.

– We have doubts. We reported them a few weeks ago, Gawkowski said on behalf of the Left.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that “the provisions that are supposed to repeal the asylum law (…) are not fully understandable.” – We do not want to vote for such regulations – he added.

The minister said that the Left wants, among other things, “fighting illegal immigration at the border, strengthening services, assistance provided in laws.”

– We support all this, but not this one provision regarding the suspension of asylum – added Gawkowski. When asked whether his party would vote for changes to the law in the Sejm, he replied “no”. – But we are ready to talk to change this law because we want the border in Poland to be safe – he added.
