IMWM warns against icy roads and sidewalks. First degree alerts apply in voivodeships located in southern Poland. Check where the weather will be dangerous.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
IMWM warnings – icing
Ice warnings apply in the voivodeship:
- Silesiancounties: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WałbrzychKłodzko, Ząbkowice;
- Lesser Polandcounties: Wadowice, Sucha, Nowy Targ, Tatra, Myślenice, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączGorlice;
- Podkarpackiecounties: Jasło, Krosno, KrosnoSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.
In these regions, wet road surfaces and sidewalks are expected to freeze after rainfall, sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy.
The alerts will be valid until 9 a.m. on Saturday.
What are IMWM first degree warnings?
Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by road traffic, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
