IMWM warns against dangerous conditions related to heavy snowfall. Yellow alerts are in effect in several counties in southern Poland.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
First degree IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall
Yellow alerts are in force in the voivodeship Lesser Polandin the following counties: Gorlice, Nowy SÄ…cz, Nowy SÄ…czLimanowski, Nowy Targ, Tatra.
Snowfall is forecast in these regions, causing an increase in snow cover of 10 cm to 15 cm, locally in Podhale – about 20 cm. The warnings will remain in force until the end of the day.
What are IMWM first degree warnings?
Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by road traffic, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
