There will be Polish satellites: On Friday, December 20 Ministry of National Defense signed a supply contract four satellites for optoelectronic observation of the Earth's surface. The contract was concluded with Creotech Instruments and its value is: PLN 556.7 million. The satellites will be based on the HyperSat platform and are ordered as part of the Mikroglob satellite program. The funds for the purchase come primarily from KPO, but also from the Polish reform and investment program that is part of the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility Next Generation EU (NGEU).

Why does Poland need satellites? According to the Military Research and Analysis Team, the purpose of the purchase is expanding the capabilities of the Armed Forces in acquiring reconnaissance data using satellite optoelectronic observation systems. The Kosmonauta.net website points out that Poland needs Earth observation sources, including: For military purposes and in connection with Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Satellites in space in a year: The first Polish observation satellite will be launched into space in… 2026and a year later the entire constellation is to be ready. “We increase our security investing in Polish innovations!” – wrote Katarzyna PeÅ‚czyÅ„ska-NaÅ‚Ä™cz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, on the X platform.
