Cuba – as the boy introduced himself – he was selling cookies at a fair in Poznań. It was immediately obvious that he was a fan of the local Lech. In the recording, which was viewed nearly half a million times on Twitter, he admitted that he was collecting money to participate in a football camp in Zakopane. “I still need a lot, but I think I will collect it,” he said.
A 12-year-old tricked everyone? The police throw up their hands. “We have no reports”
This story touched many people. Kuba's activities have been widely promoted on the Internet. He promoted the action Zbigniew Boniek. Lech Poznań spokesman Maciej Henszel said it was a “great attitude of the young man” and invited him and his family to another home match of Lech Poznań. He also declared support, among others: Jarosław Królewski – president of Wisła Cracow.
Local “Voice of Greater Poland” reported that Kuba was to be a player of MKS Olimpia Koło. We learned about it from your material, because there was a sponsor who wanted to help him – said the coach. If we knew he was trying to do something like that, we would try to help him in a different way. He would definitely go to this camp, but the question is whether we are talking about the same boy,” said the coach.
But on Wednesday, December 4, the club decided to react officially. According to president Sebastian Kalinowski, none of Olimpia's youth groups goes to the camp in Zakopane. In an additional comment, the activist did not hide his irritation. “My frustration is growing every day because the person impersonating in order to make money is not sincere. I ask: What purpose does the invented story script serve?” – he added.
Due to this statement, the case attracted national media attention. “Fakt” decided to contact the police. This one… isn't going to react though.
– We have no reports regarding this situation. If the boy was saving money, we would handle the case ex officio and check his family and home situation. However, in the case we are dealing with, this is not necessary – he said in an interview with “Fact” Junior Inspector Andrzej Borowiak.
The organizers are also fed up. “He was already here last year”
In an interview with “The voice of Greater Poland” the organizers of the fair in Poznań admit that this boy never asked for permission to sell cookies. And this is not the first time! – He was already here last year. And after simply we agree to this. However, when more boys or girls start coming, we will take some intervention. More and more people see, despite the media noise, that it is easy to make money in our area, said Anna Dorna from Bethlehem Poznański.
It seems that 12-year-old Kuba has gotten away with it for now. It is a pity that thanks to this type of actions, those who really need help can count on less support.
