A man suspected of hitting a 14-year-old boy at a pedestrian crossing in Warsaw was charged with causing a fatal accident, fleeing the scene of the incident, and also charged with failing to comply with a court driving ban. According to TVN24 reporter Mariusz Sidorkiewicz, the 43-year-old pleaded guilty.
The accident occurred on Friday after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Ordona and Jana Kazimierza streets. The driver of a white delivery bus hit a 14-year-old boy crossing a pedestrian crossing. As a result of his injuries, the boy died in hospital.
The driver fled the scene of the accident. He was arrested late on Saturday evening by officers from Wola, he was drunk at the time.
He was repeatedly convicted of various crimes. He recently provided services to one of the courier companies.
On Sunday evening, the 43-year-old was charged with causing a fatal accident, fleeing the scene of the accident, and failing to comply with a court driving ban.
According to TVN24 reporter Mariusz Sidorkiewicz, the man pleaded guilty and gave explanations. On Monday morning, the prosecutor's office will decide whether to submit a request for temporary arrest to the court.
He faces up to 20 years in prison.
