The British royal couple had a state visit to Italy, and at the same time celebrated the 20th wedding anniversary. On this occasion, Karol and Kamila were adopted by Pope Francis, who recovers after the acute crisis associated with pneumonia. King Karol himself was also in the hospital a dozen or so days ago, where he underwent cancer therapy.

It was a meeting of superiors of two churches: Catholic and Anglican. Originally, King Karol III was to take an official, state visit to the Vatican, but due to the illness of the Pope the ceremony was canceled. At the last moment, unexpectedly, Pope Francis invited the king with the queen for a short, private audience. The British royal couple heard from the Pope the best wishes on the 20th wedding anniversary, which fell exactly on Wednesday.

Karol and Kamila got married at the castle in Windsor in 2005. The wedding was preceded by scandals, betrayal and divorce with Princess Diana. Now, after 20 years, the emotions accompanying their relationship have subsided and are above all positive.

This is the 17th official visit of Karol to Italy. This time it lasted four days. The British king was adopted with a large pump, he met, among others, with the president, from Prime Minister Meloni, visited the Colosseum and spoke as the first British monarch in history before the combined chambers of the Italian parliament.

– For the queen and for me it is extremely significant that on the first foreign journey after coronation we went to Italy. This is a special day for us, because we celebrate the 20th wedding anniversary today. I hope that I did not cut the language of Dante so much that I will not be invited here anymore – King Karol III joked.

Efficiently speaking in Italian met with the delight of the hosts. The king got a long ovation after his speech. The British royal couple aroused enthusiasm not only among officials and politicians, but also among ordinary Romans and tourists.

– We came to eat ice cream. We heard that the king would be here in the area, so we waited for him. He was so kind! He asked where we were from, and when I said that from Israel, he stopped to talk to us longer – said Ilalana Lelcuk, an Israeli tourist.

The highlight of the visit was a banquet issued by the President of Italy on a quirium. At the request of Karol, the menu served to guests was vegetarian. During the speech, the king talked about the friendship connecting Great Britain and Italy, but also about the difficult present and the future.

– The world changes so quickly, and reality has a huge impact on people's lives. We must face these challenges, but we are not alone. We are all together. Friends. Allies. Partners in Europe and abroad. I hope it stays like this forever – said King Karol III.

76-year-old Karol set out on a journey, although two weeks ago he was admitted to the hospital due to ailments related to cancer treatment. In February, the king was diagnosed with cancer. Now he repeated that every visit to Italy improves his mood.

– Italians developed a really large, red carpet in front of the royal couple. But in the face of the full -scale trade war started by the United States, in the face of uncertainty in the markets, the wars in the Gaza Strip, in Ukraine and other parts of the world, this visit seems to be only a pale shadow of the world that is already disappearing quickly – commented Ben Wedeman, CNN journalist.

The visit is perceived by commentators as an element of London's diplomatic efforts, to bring Great Britain to Brexit again with the rest of Europe.
