Although Sherson Peak is not one of the absolute highest peaks in the world, or even in the Himalayas, no one has officially managed to climb it yet. Of course, several expeditions tried, but none succeeded. It is certainly one of the most unknown places in the most famous mountain range in the world. However, there is someone who intends to change this state of affairs soon.
Pawbeats sets out to conquer a mysterious peak
That someone is Marcin Pawłowski, a Polish musician known as Pawbeats. He is a 34-year-old who deals mainly with pop music and hip-hop. He has released over a dozen gold and platinum albums. Mountains are one of his greatest passions. He has already won, among others: the Ama Dablam peak in Nepal (6,812 m above sea level) or the highest Kilimanjaro in Africa (5,895 m above sea level). Sherson Peak will therefore not be his premiere challenge, or even his personal best. However, being called “the first” is certainly the dream of everyone who conquers high peaks.
Will Sherson Peak change its name? Nepali law allows this
Pawbeats announced their plans via social media. His partner will be Ngaa Tenji Sherpa. Both men climbed the above-mentioned Ama Dablam together. As the musician himself writes, it was during that expedition that they targeted Sherson Peak. “We are climbing alpine style, along the south-west ridge, we expect difficulties at level D. We will use porters to reach our self-created Base Camp. At the same time, we do not intend to use additional oxygen from cylinders, use animals for transport, and we clean up all rubbish after ourselves, to leave this area intact as we found it,” wrote Pawbeats.
If the Pole and his partner manage to reach the peak, it is very possible that… it will change its name. How is this possible? “According to Nepalese law, if we manage to climb and become the first conquerors, we can give the peak a new name” – explains Marcin Pawłowski.
