The characteristic footbridge at the shopping mall on Wołoska will soon disappear from the landscape of Służewiec. A private investor will build a ground crossing for a bicycle ride in its place. There will also be other bicycle investments in the area.

The footbridge over Wołoska at the shopping mall is almost 25 years old. It was opened in autumn 2000, a month before the Świętokrzyskie Bridge. It was said that he was his miniature, because their constructions look similar. She served primarily for people heading for shopping and it was the owner of the center for its construction. Although it was equipped with elevators, people with limited mobility, guardians with young children or cyclists complained about problems with their use and continuous faults.

They will soon be forgotten. This is related to the works that take place on the west side of Wołoska, where in front of Westfield Mokotów (formerly Galeria Mokotów) a new estate is being built.

They will destroy the footbridge, build a ground passage

“A private investor is building a new road for bicycles on the west side of Wołoska Street on the section Domaniewska – Narynarska. It is also in the scope to supplement bicycle crossings at the intersection of Wołoska/Domaniewska as well as a new pedestrian crossing and a passage at the height of a shopping mall” – said Łukasz Puchalski, the President of the President of Warsaw for bicycle communication and director of the Municipal Road Administration on Facebook.

He confirmed that the footbridge would be liquidated. A similar message flows from the owner of the shopping center.

“For the sake of the comfort of moving residents and clients of the shopping center, Westfield Mokotów joins the initiative to modernize the urban space in the Służewiec region. The center plans to remove the footbridge over Wołoska Street. The works will include, among others, dismantling of platforms, stairs and the footbridge itself. The investment is carried out in consultation with ZDM and the archicom developer, which is part of the Echo Group. The last entity is responsible for building a new ground crossing in the place of the current footbridge and a bicycle path integrated with the Wołoska street already existing. He also deals with the reconstruction of road infrastructure, adjacent to the estate.

During work at Wołoska, a separate entrance belt will also be built to a new estate and a collision -free trip from it. The block before, the left turn will be marked out from the constructor in Wołoska, which is to relieve the intersection of Wołoska with Domaniewska. As part of the investment, stops located at Wołoska will gain a new surface and will be integrated with pavements.

The footbridge is to disappear by the end of the year

“All works will be carried out with the least possible impact on the daily functioning of the area. Currently, arrangements are underway regarding the determination of the deadline” – emphasizes the owner of the shopping center.

In an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza, the director of ZDM announced that the footbridge is to disappear by the end of this year. – At the moment we cannot provide a more accurate date, because the demolition is complicated by the fact that it is shifted over tram traction – he reserved. We would like to remind you that trams currently carry out work in several locations, including in Ochota and Mokotów, which means that the next possible suspension of trams must be planned so that it does not interfere with other changes in the organization of traffic.

New bicycle routes in Służewiec

The director of ZDM reminded in his Facebook post about other investments in Służewiec, which will help you cling to some holes in the bicycle road network. The reconstruction of the Żabczyński roundabout is underway at the intersection of Progy and Cybernetics streets. A private investor (progress quadrat) will make a set of bicycle crossings and a fragment of a bicycle road on the street of Progress South of the roundabout. In addition, in the neighborhood, i.e. on the north side of Progress Street, ZDM builds the missing section of the bicycle road as part of the project from the civic budget.

Recently, bicycle roads have also arrived at Domaniewska. Road workers also prepared a fragment on the Wołoska – Car section, and the district office added another between the streets of Subak – Progress. Private investors, in turn, completed the construction of an extension of Swak, i.e. Logarithmic Street, where a bicycle path was also built.

New bicycle paths will be built between the constructor and rationalization, to Woronicz (Wołoska – revolutionary etudes) and on Domaniewska (Wołoska progress). A bicycle crossing will be marked out at the European Union roundabout, and the old bicycle path from Kostka will be rebuilt in Wołoska, between Niechowski and Domaniewska.
