Act of sabotage in Krakow: – On the night of December 3-4, there were certain actions that I could call today sabotage of energy infrastructure. We managed to identify it all very nicely, prevent any damage and of course pass it on to relevant servicesthat have taken action – said the president of MPK, Rafał Świerczyński, on TVP3 Kraków.
Hacker attack on MPK: For a hacker attack on the Municipal Communication Company in Krakow it happened on December 3 at 7 a.m. “Failure of IT systemsch affecting current problems in the functioning of, among others, ticket sales systemsthe MPK website and other IT systems effect of a hacker attack” – wrote MPK in a statement at that time.
Appeal regarding PESEL numbers: According to the president of MPK, there are many indications that hacker attack it started with sending viral emails to employees of the Krakow company. MPK warned that Passenger data may have been leaked. Therefore, the Krakow carrier asked customers, colleagues and employees to pay special attention to strange, unusual e-mails, phones and contact attempts. The carrier also recommended PESEL number restriction.
“Hacker group from the east”: Rafał Świerczyński added that behind the attack, according to information MPK, standing hacker group coming “from the east”. He emphasized that the method, mode and preparation of the attack “concerned internal IT infrastructure”. After the attack, MPK sent a notice to the police and the president Personal Data Protection Office about potential possibility of personal data theft MPK employees and passengers.
