Not only praising the crime and causing a false alarm in the Sejm. The prosecutor's office extends the charges against politician Jacek Ć. Now the man is also suspected of, among other things, racism.
Less than a year ago, Jacek Ć., who ran for the Senate from the Confederation list, he was detained by the police and charged. Let us recall that these were entries on the Ć. social media account: “at 4:01 p.m. a bomb will explode in the Sejm” and “the Hanukkah menorah will fly up,” it was written. The entries were a reaction to the information from the Chancellery of the Sejm that on that day at 4 p.m. there would be a ceremony of lighting the Hanukkah menorah with the participation of President Andrzej Duda and the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, together with the Presidium of the Sejm.
Another entry appeared on the same account on the In response to the question from one of the Internet users, “how would you like to 'de-Jewish' the Sejm”, on the account of Jacek Ć. the answer appeared: “It's best to use Zyklon B.” Zyklon B is a gas that the Germans used to kill prisoners in extermination camps.
The politician issued a statement
The account was deleted from the X platform, but screenshots could be found on social media. The suspect claimed that the entries were the result of his profile being hacked.
“In connection with the scandalous and unacceptable entries that appeared yesterday evening (i.e. December 13, 2023) on my profile on the social networking site I am not their author. These entries were not posted by me, and were the result of illegal access to my profile by unknown people after it had been previously hacked. security,” he wrote in a statement.
Investigators expand the charges against the politician
The first charge the politician heard immediately after the incident was “causing a false alarm about planting an explosive device in the building of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (Article 224a of the Penal Code).” The second one was related to public praise of the crime by posting an entry referring to the event of December 12 last year, when one of the Members of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland extinguished a hanukkiah lit in the building of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland due to the Jewish Day of Dedication (Article 255 § 3 of the Penal Code).
Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, informed us that the charges against the politician will be extended.
– On October 31, 2024, an application for legal assistance was submitted to the District Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów to announce to Jacek Ć. amended and supplemented charges and questioning him as a suspect, said Skiba.
As he added, Jacek Ć. charges will be presented under Art. 238 of the Penal Code in Coll. joke. 233 § 1 of the Penal Code (submitting a false report about breach of security and hacking into his account on the “X” portal), as well as additional charges under Art. 255 § 3 of the Penal Code (public praise of a crime) and Art. 257 of the Penal Code in Coll. joke. 256 § 1 of the Penal Code (assault due to xenophobia, racism or religious intolerance).
Piotr Skiba also told us that the prosecutor's office will apply for an extension of the investigation in this case.
