On Tuesday during your visit to USA Andrzej Duda He appeared for the last time as the President of Poland at a special session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the speech, among others He summed up his current policy in the United Nations Forum and emphasized the issue of the imperial policy of the Russian Federation. – When in 2015 I was elected to the office of the President of the Republic of Poland, I knew that it was attacked by Russia from 2014 Ukraine This is just the beginning of a force attempt to destroy international order based on international law – said the president.
As he said, “unfortunately my assessments and predictions, especially those regarding the imperial policy of the Russian Federation and the security situation in Europe, proved themselves.” – Today with satisfaction, but also relief, I look back at all projects to strengthen the security of Poland and Europe. Without them, the Kremlin could long ago conquer Kiev and get ready for further expansion towards Warsaw, Vilnius, Riga or Tallino – said President Duda.
“I wanted Poland to be seen not only as a recipient, but also a security donor”
Duda also emphasized the issue of Poland's involvement in international security. – Since I took the presidency, the main priority of my policy is to strengthen security – Poland and Europe, thanks to strengthening both bilateral cooperation with the most important allies and multilateral as part of regional collective security systems and more broadly international, which creates the UN – the president noted.
As he pointed out, it is especially about “strengthening relations with the United States”, as well as “partners from the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union, as well as those willing and looking in a similar way to international relations of the UN Member States.”

– We've been able to have a lot for years – said the president, indicating, among others at the recent opening of the Aegis Ashore anti -missile base in Pomeranian Redzikowo, as well as his recent conversation with the US president Donald Trump.
– From the beginning of my presidency, I wanted Poland to be seen not only as a recipient, but also a security donor. That is why during my two terms I tried to make Warsaw fulfill the most important allied obligations and realistically create a security policy in Europe and the world – added Duda, indicating, among others for Polish commitment to UN missions, such as Unifil in Librant.
Duda: The room can only be defended when there is a real force behind it
The president also talked about the importance of international law to ensure peace and reminded that the slogan that Poland has been guided by the UN forum for years is “peace through law”. – At the time when not always regional security formats allow us to take care of international stability, let's remember why it was created United Nations Organization. Let us remember why we developed international law with joint effort, so that it guarantees peace in the best way and protects the sovereignty and integrity of states – said Duda.
– Why is this law not respected by everyone today, including permanent members of the UN Security Council? I find one answer: an insufficient force guarding international law and the United Nations Card rules – said the president.
Duda emphasized, however, that despite, among others The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine “international law remains the strongest tool for civilized nations to ensure a long -lasting peace.” – But today I would supplement these words with the attention that peace can only be defended when there is a real force behind him, able to scare away a potential aggressor. However, in a situation where it was not possible to prevent the outbreak of war, it requires justice to restore peace – he added.

Duda: Only peace can provide optimal conditions for development
– I am aware that I represent a country that has a huge advantage in dealing with many countries. This advantage is the fact that Poland has never imposed its views on anyone – we only took care and supported the respect of basic laws – the laws contained in the United Nations. We know well what the fight with the colonizer is. Poland has never been a colonial state and we are proud of it! – said the president in his speech.
He pointed out that in the last 30 years Poland has achieved unprecedented success when it comes to, among others for economic development. – From a backward, poor country, with high unemployment, we managed to achieve the status of a very corrosted state (…). Today we are the 21st world economy, and our ambition is to join the group G20. All these successes were possible thanks to peace in Europe – emphasized Duda.
– Hence, in Poland, we sincerely believe that only peace can provide optimal conditions for development – he noted.
As he said, the creation of a system that provides peace in Europe and ensuring that aggression would not benefit the attacker is the success of the Old Continent, but on the other hand, as he assessed, this thinking has made many European leaders blind to Russia's imperial policy. – I hope that the process of waking up from a geopolitical nap, although painful, will take place quickly and Europe will take more responsibility for its safety in cooperation with proven allies. There is no choice. Citizens understand this, now it's time for state leaders – said President Duda.
