Antoni Macierewicz has been combining political activity with retirement for many years. He received the benefit as the Minister of National Defense in the Law and Justice government. The declaration of assets submitted by the MP in 2023 shows that in 2022 he received ZUS a total of PLN 44,770.34. This means that the monthly benefit he was entitled to was slightly over PLN 3,730.

Antoni Macierewicz's pension has increased dramatically. Over 100,000 more in a year

However, the last statement submitted by Macierewicz in April 2024 shows a much higher amount. The document shows that in 2023 the politician received retirement benefits totaling PLN 146,051.58. This is over PLN 100,000 more per year and approximately PLN 12,170 per month.

“Fact” explains that the sharp increase in the amount of benefit received by Macierewicz is most likely due to the recalculation of the pension. ZUS then adds the additional pension contributions paid, divides them by the further expected life span, and then adds them to the benefit.

Macierewicz could apply for this because he had been earning extra money in retirement for many years and had been paying social security contributions from remuneration from the government and Sejm. It was probably their amount that determined such a significant increase in the benefit received. The politician himself did not answer journalists' questions regarding his declaration of assets.
