Antony Blinken in Warsaw. Meetings with Donald Tusk and Radosław Sikorski

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Warsaw on Thursday. He will come to Poland directly from Kyiv, where he announced a new package to support Ukraine.

Visit of the Secretary of State USA in Warsaw is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Antony Blinken will meet with the head of Polish diplomacy Radoslaw Sikorski and the Prime Minister Donald Tusk. A press conference between Blinken and Sikorski is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Foreign Ministry. Afterwards, Blinken will meet with the head of the Polish government.

New package for Ukraine

Blinken was in Kyiv on Wednesday, where he announced a new support package Ukraine. More than $600 million will be allocated for energy reconstruction and humanitarian aid.

“Today we are announcing $325 million in new funding to help rebuild Ukraine's energy sector and electricity grid, and we will also leverage additional support from the G7+ countries at the Energy Coordination Group meeting in the next few weeks,” Blinken said in the Ukrainian capital.

“He announced that $290 million in new U.S. aid would go toward providing basic services such as safe drinking water, food, shelter and medicine to people in Ukraine and across the region who have been displaced by Putin's war,” Interfax-Ukraine reported.

– Finally, we are announcing $102 million in additional funding for humanitarian mine action to help clear mines and unexploded ordnance left behind by Russia in Ukraine, Blinken said.

A number of issues

“We discussed long-range strikes, among other things, as well as a number of other issues. I intend to return to Washington with that discussion and brief the president on what I heard,” Blinken said at a joint news conference with his Ukrainian and British counterparts in the Ukrainian capital.

The US Secretary of State arrived in Ukraine with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. They were received by Ukraine's new Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
