– Two months ago, when we started playing in the Nations League, we expected that the Polish national team would finally start to develop. After a 1-2 defeat against Scotland in the last match of this competition, we can say that the worst-case scenario came true. And not only because we were relegated to Division B. Today, Michał Probierz's team is at best in the place it was in after Euro 2024. Or maybe even worse – wrote Sport.pl journalist Konrad Ferszter.

We asked Moder. “I don't blame you”

After the end of the match in the mixed zone, Jakub Moder, who played 45 minutes and was replaced by Bartosz Slisz, answered journalists' questions. The Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder assessed the match and the fact that the national team was relegated to division B of the Nations League.

– I think that we have been in this A division for many years and we should be able to keep it now as well. Of course, we messed up this match a bit with the last action and this image will definitely remain. There will definitely be a campaign against us in the media because we were relegated from the A division in this way – he said.

– And won't you have some reflection? You are saying that there will be a campaign in the media. Don't you somehow draw conclusions after these matches? After what happens? We see that these goals are simply conceded too easily in the next match. This is probably not just a matter of the media – asked Sport.pl journalist Dominik Wardzichowski.

– No, absolutely. I'm not blaming you, I'm just telling you how it is and how it will be. I have absolutely no complaints about that, because it was us who messed up on the pitch. Yes, we draw conclusions. Of course, we have a lot to improve. There were a lot of injuries in the first match. That certainly didn't help either. There is a lot to improve, we are not afraid to say it. That's what the coach says and the players say. We have a lot of things to improve – mainly in defense, because, as I said, offensively, I think we play good football – replied Moder, stating that his words were not an attack on journalists.

The Polish national team won only once in the last nine matches – against Scotland in September.
