Attention! Look out, that's how the world record was made. “How does it look like?”

A long, long time ago, Juergen Schult from the GDR threw a disk at a distance of 74.08 m. From 1986 until 2024, this result from the era marked by doping was unbeatable. Until a new era came – chicken doping. A year ago, the oldest athletic world record was broken in Oklahom. And now, from breaking the record on the American meadow, on which the wind was hula, an advertisement of athletics was made, which really became an anti -advertisement.

The recording below lasts barely a minute with a piece, and it is difficult to endure to the end. It shows something theoretically momentous. Here is the first man in history threw more than 75 meters. But what do we see? A sincere field, on which a few meters were concreted and this area was surrounded by a net. From there, Mykolas Alekna threw a new world record. But instead of listening to the cheers of thousands of fans, we hear such a howling of wind that woe to the one who watches it with the sound!

The competition in Ramon in Oklahomie, in the above scenery, suddenly became the most important in the world disk's throw, classic sports competition already known in the ancient world.

Such records are a problem. The master asks: what does it look like?

Let's look at the best results this year in this sport. Number 1, 2 and 3 – Ramona from April 13. Number 4 – Ramona from April 10. Number 5 – Ramona from April 6. On the list of 15 farthest throws 2025, it is not from Ramona: under normal conditions in Berkeley, Alekna threw 70.09 meters. So more than five meters worse than on Sunday, April 13, when he beat his own world record.

On a very ventilation of Sunday – with gusts exceeding 5 m/s – Alekna already in the first round improved his last year's world record from 74.45 m to 74.89 m. Later he beat him at 75.56 m, and the “old” Lithuanian record, that is, the one from last year, he also transferred Australian Matt Denny, reaching 74.48 m.

On Sunday, as many as six players exceeded 70 meters. This is a historic feat. Earlier, the best competition in history was proclaimed the one in which three people threw 70 meters beyond the border. And something like this happened … three days ago in Ramon. For comparison: in August at the Olympic Games in Paris the gold medal gave a result of 70.00 m.

– Alekna is great, the bottom is great, I do not take anything from them, it is also the ability to throw far in such a belt. I couldn't, and they do it really well. But in my opinion, World Athletics should accept some standards – says Piotr Małachowski in an interview with Sport.pl.

– There should be a specific number of judges at competitions where you can beat world records, there should be a rank. I'm not saying that someone is cheating there. No, nobody cheats – adds our former disk master. – But how do these records beaten on a meadow look? – he asks. – And it should be emphasized that it is unfair because the starts in Oklahomie are for the chosen ones. For weaker players, the cost of such a trip is too high. And the effect will be that, for example, our Oskar Stachnik for a flight to Oklahoma cannot afford and what if Oskar won 90 percent. starts with someone who appeared in Oklahomie, set a life record at 68-69 meters [życiówka Polaka wynosi 64,06 m] And now someone will be invited to meetings more often than our player, because the organizers look at life – notes Małachowski.

– If someone necessarily wants to do a competition there, let's do the world championships, let everyone go there and let everyone have a chance for a magnificent record – says our two -time Olympic runner -up and world and European champion.

What if the discounts were thrown out into the field? “Why pay them money?”

But Małachowski believes that it would really be better for all modern discobels if they noticed that, apart from temporary satisfaction and publicity, great results from Oklahoma would rather not do anything to them. And they can even take them a lot.

– I think about the directors of meetings and I expect them to say: “If the boys throw records elsewhere, why invite them and pay them money?” – says Memorial Director of Kamila Skolimowska.

Our meeting played at the Silesian Stadium is one of the best in the world. For a star cast and excellent results fall on it. In 2024, the world records in Chorzów beat a brilliant pole vault Armand Duplantis and an excellent runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Such results attract supporters to the stands. – There is no chance that in Chorzów or any other stadium in the world some discobol broke the world record. The conditions at the stadiums are completely different than on this meadow in Oklahomie. The players unknowingly hurt themselves. How are we today to compare the world record in the disk with a record in a ball set at the stadium, by the audience, in serious competitions? The record in the ball is much more valuable – says Małachowski.

There will be no on our diamond disk league

From Marcin Rosenggarten, i.e. the head of the Skolimian Memorial, we hear that there will be no disk at our competition. The opinion about the records from Oklahoma Rosengarten has a definite one. So much that he didn't let him quote.

With Małachowski, we laugh that maybe he would get along with the stars of the disk to start in the Polish diamond league, but we would move the competition from the Silesian Stadium to a windy field, for example around his hometown of Bieżuń.

– Even if we wanted to think about something like this, you would have to wait for the wind. In Ramon, the discourse sit a week or two, train, play and start only when it blows really hard. This has been the case in the disk for years, once in Swedish Helsingborg was able to do up to three competitions in one windy day. But it seems that now this trend has got worse. Unfortunately – says Małachowski. – The worst thing that you will write about it, but World Athletics will simply record records and in a week everyone will forget about it – sums up our former disk master.
