The Belarusian press agency Belta reports about pardoning 20 people“who have committed crimes of an extremist nature.” This is the phrase that Belarusian regime uses to refer to political prisoners.
Most of those pardoned are women (11) and people suffering from chronic diseases (14), half has childrenof which one woman has four.
Lukashenko pardoned more prisoners. “They repented”
“They all asked for forgiveness and repented for what they had done” – reports the regime agency, indicating that the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs intends monitor behavior of convicts after their release.
To eighth group people released from prison by Alyaksandr Lukashenko from this summer. A total of 10 people were pardoned about 200 people.
Belarus. Andrzej Poczobut spent another Christmas in prison
Currently on Belarus are considered political prisoners 1253 people – according to information from the human rights center Viasna. These people include, among others: journalist and activist of the Polish minority Andrzej Poczobutwho has been in custody since March 2021.
In February 2023, the journalist was sentenced to eight years of penal colony of strict security. After his appeal against the verdict was rejected, he is staying in the colony in… Nowopołock.
