While trying to avoid the truck, an ambulance hit a 10-year-old child when it flashed its siren. A young pedestrian was crossing the zebra crossing on the way out of Białystok (Podlaskie Voivodeship). He was taken to hospital. The road is blocked and detours are in force.
– According to the police's preliminary findings, a pedestrian walking on a pedestrian crossing was hit by an ambulance driving towards Białystok with the emergency vehicle's sound and light signals on, says Comm. Marta Rodzik from the Podlasie police press team.
The ambulance was passing the truck on the left side. She was standing in front of a pedestrian crossing to let a pedestrian cross. – The pedestrian was taken to hospital. Tests showed that the ambulance driver was sober. The pedestrian is a 10-year-old child, he adds.
Police officers are on site and there are traffic disruptions. The road is blocked.
The police also inform that the ambulance was carrying a patient after resuscitation.
