Accident on Puławska. BMW driver was under the influence of cocaine
As Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, tells tvnwarszawa.pl, Michał C. will be charged with driving under the influence of a narcotic substance.
The spokesman explains that investigators are conducting two separate proceedings: one concerning driving under the influence of cocaine by Michał C. and the other, during which the exact circumstances of the accident on Puławska Street are being clarified. Only an expert will determine whether driving under the influence of drugs had an impact on the course of the incident.
– At this stage, an expert has been called in. He is to determine, among other things, the speed of the BMW and whether there was a possibility for the driver to avoid the collision – explains Skiba.
The spokesman states that he is currently unable to say how long we will have to wait for the expert's opinion. – It cannot be ruled out that it will be received in the coming weeks. It will be preceded by an inspection of the BMW. It was also necessary to analyze the electronic data contained in the vehicle's computer: speed, acceleration, whether the foot was on the gas, whether the driver was braking and at what point he performed defensive maneuvers – describes the spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
As Skiba adds, there are currently no plans to file a motion to arrest Michał C.
The BMW driver was supposed to be questioned on Friday, August 23, but he failed to show up when called. Investigators do not rule out asking the police to take him to the prosecutor's office.
