The District Prosecutor's Office in Grajewo brought charges not only against the driver who caused the head-on collision, but also against the driver of the overtaken car. The accident occurred near the town of Boczki-Świdrowo (Podlaskie Voivodeship), resulting in five people being taken to hospital. A 28-year-old passenger in a Toyota traveling from the opposite direction died there.
Explaining the circumstances of the fatal accident, the prosecutor's office in Grajewo (Podlaskie Voivodeship) brought charges not only against the driver who caused the head-on collision, but also against the driver of the overtaken Volkswagen. Investigators concluded that he contributed to the accident. It also turned out that he had court driving bans.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Grajewo announced the charges related to the accident that occurred on December 21 on provincial road No. 665 on the Popowo – Guty section (Grajewo commune) on Wednesday. According to the findings so far, the 18-year-old driver of a Skoda passenger car, while overtaking – in a prohibited place – a Volkswagen in front of him, did not exercise due caution and caused a head-on collision with a Toyota that was correctly approaching from the opposite direction. At the request of investigators, the court arrested the Skoda driver for three months, the prosecutor's office said. In her opinion, the driver of the overtaken Volkswagen Golf also contributed to the accident. She accused him of intentionally violating safety rules in land traffic – when overtaking his car, he increased his speed, braked in a situation unjustified by traffic conditions and drove the car to the center line of the road to prevent the Skoda driver from safely overtaking and re-entering his lane. This driver will also be held responsible for violating driving bans imposed on him by court judgments in Białystok and Grajewo. The prosecutor's office used the so-called libertarian preventive measures – she said in a statement.
A 28-year-old woman died in the hospital
As a result of the accident, five people were taken to hospital.
– This is an 18-year-old man and his two 15-year-old female passengers, as well as a 28-year-old Toyota driver and his 28-year-old female passenger, who unfortunately died in hospital – said Junior Inspector Tomasz Krupa, spokeswoman for the Podlasie police.
