Blocks, crayons and tools – these are part of the loot of a 38-year-old woman suspected of shoplifting near Oświęcim in Lesser Poland. For several weeks, the woman was supposed to scan only some products at the self-service checkout. She is facing prison.
A 38-year-old woman from Chełmek (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), in one of the towns near Oświęcim, was charged with theft. According to Oświęcim police, the woman had been robbing a grocery store for several weeks.
“After putting the goods into the basket, the woman went to the self-service checkout, where she filled only some of the products. It was established that in this way she stole goods worth a total of PLN 4,164,” the Małopolska police said in a statement.
They recovered the stolen items
The 38-year-old was arrested on November 4, but only now the police announced her arrest. The woman faces up to five years in prison.
The officers recovered several dozen stolen items, including: blocks, crayons, a purse, underwear or tools.
