Russian Vladimir Motin, a captain of a container, who collided in the North Sea on Monday with an American tanker carrying air fuel, was accused of inadvertently causing death and serious neglect – British police said on Friday evening.
On Sunday, the Solong containerist at almost full speed hit the MV Stena Immaculate tanker chartered by the American armystanding on the anchor at a distance of about 16 km from the coast at the height of the city of Hull in Yorkshire, Great Britain. A violent fire broke out and an air fuel leak from Tankowiec.
In connection with the collision, the captain of the containeriec – a 59 -year -old Russian Vladimir Motin – was detained. He was accused of inadvertently causing death and serious neglect. The Russian will remain in detention and on Saturday will be in court in Hull in North England.

A collision of ships, one person is dead
According to the British prosecutor's office, one of the Solong's crew members died as a result of the collision. 36 other sailors survived and were transported ashore. The container crew consists of Filipinos and Russians.

The accident led to large fires and explosion as well as air fuel leakage to the sea, which raised concerns about the ecological disaster. These fears weakened when it turned out that most of the fuel burned and no further leaks were detected.
Reuters emphasizes that the incident occurred during severe tensions in the relations between London and Moscow.
