The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of storms that may occur late Friday evening and overnight across a large area of ​​Poland. Warnings have also been issued for several provinces in connection with the forecasted heat.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued second and first degree warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms

Second degree warnings ahead storms are valid in the following voivodeships:

  • Masovian Voivodeship;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the eastern counties;
  • Łódź;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Podkarpackie,
  • Silesian,
  • Opole,
  • Lower Silesian;
  • Greater Polandin the eastern part of the voivodeship;
  • Podlasiein the following counties: Zambrowski, Łomża, Łomża, Kolno;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin the counties of Gołdap, Olecko and Ełk;
  • Lublin Provinceoutside the counties: Biała PodlaskaBiała Podlaska, Parczew, Włodawa, helmetChełm, Hrubieszów.

Storms are forecast, accompanied by very heavy rainfall of up to 30-50 liters per square meter in some places and wind gusts of up to 80-90 kilometers per hour, and locally up to 100 km/h. There may be hail in places.

The warnings will be valid until 11 p.m. on Friday or midnight on Saturday.

IMWM first degree warnings – storms

First-degree storm warnings apply to the following provinces:

  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipcounties: Gołdap, Olecko, Ełk;
  • Podlaskieoutside the counties where second degree alarms were issued;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipin Łosice County;
  • Lublinoutside the counties where second degree alarms were issued.

In these regions, during storms, heavy rainfall of 20 to 35 l/m2 and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are predicted in places. Hail may fall locally.

The warnings will expire at 2 a.m. Saturday.

First degree IMWM warnings – heat

IMGW also warns of heat. First-degree warnings have been issued for the following provinces:

  • lubuskieexcept for north-eastern counties;
  • Greater Polandfor the southern counties;
  • Lower Silesiaexcept the southern counties;
  • Opole Province;
  • Silesianexcept southern counties;
  • Lodzfor the southern counties;
  • Świętokrzyskiefor western and southern counties;
  • Lesser Polandfor the northern half of the voivodeship.

The maximum temperature during the day will be around 30 degrees Celsius – forecasts IMWM. As stated in the announcement, these warnings will be valid from: 12-20 on Saturday, but will continue with a higher degree on Sunday.

What is the second degree IMWM meteorological warning?

The second level warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit business activity. Expect disruptions to your daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, it is necessary to monitor the weather forecasts and developments. Follow all recommendations issued by emergency services in the event of an emergency. Adjust your plans to weather conditions.

What is the IMWM first degree meteorological warning?

First-degree warning predicts conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and threaten health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from conducting activities in the area of ​​the threat, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and the development of the weather situation.
