Dangerous weather. Warnings in eight voivodeships

IMWM warns. There will be places in eight voivodeships where strong winds will be a threat. It will start to blow in parts of the country on the night from Wednesday to Thursday. According to forecasters, the speed of gusts may reach up to 85 kilometers per hour. Check where Level 1 warnings apply.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

First degree IMWM warnings – strong wind

Yellow alerts for strong winds apply in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranianin the following counties: Słupsk, SłupskBytów, Człuchów;
  • West Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Lubuskie;
  • Greater Polandin the following counties: Złotów, Piła, Czarnków-Trzcianecki, Obornicki, Szamotuły, Międzychód, PoznańPoznań, Nowy Tomyśl, Grodzisk, Wolsztyn, Kościan, LesznoLeszczyńskie;
  • Lower Silesiain the following counties: Górowski, Głogów, Polkowice, Lubin, Bolesławiec, Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Złotoryja, LegnicaLegnica, Jawor, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych;
  • Silesianin the following counties: Żywiec, Bielsko, Cieszyn;
  • Lesser Polandin the following counties: Wadowice, Sucha, Nowy Targ, Tatra, Limanowa, Nowy SączNowy Sącz, Gorlice;
  • Podkarpackiein the following counties: Bieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Krosno, Jasło.

Forecasters predict there will be strong winds with an average speed of 35 to 45 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 80-85 km/h, from the west and southwest.

In Pomerania and Western Pomerania, warnings will apply from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday. In Silesia, Podkarpacie and Małopolska, the wind is expected between 1 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday. In the rest of the country it will be dangerous at 8-14 on the same day.

By definition IMWM the first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
